The SCOR group has donated USD 200,000 to the United Nations relief effort following the devastating and tragic natural disasters in China and Myanmar. The UN, through the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and its Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), is very active in coordinating and providing disaster relief to those affected by natural disasters. 

 

As a member of the UN Global Compact and a leading reinsurer, SCOR is very sensitive to the potential role of the international business community in terms of disaster relief and re-building. SCOR and its employees are particularly aware of the risks posed by natural catastrophes. The Group is committed to limiting the human loss and destruction caused by such catastrophes through the promotion of insurance penetration in high risk areas, particularly in third world and developing countries.
