Vikas Mahajan is appointed Head of Agriculture as René Kunz announces his retirement

René Kunz, Head of Agriculture at SCOR P&C, has announced his retirement after nearly 20 years of dedicated service to the role and the Group. He will be succeeded by Vikas Mahajan, effective May 1st, while René will remain at SCOR until July to ensure a smooth transition.

René Kunz joined SCOR P&C as Chief Underwriting Officer for Agriculture in 2006, having spent nearly five years prior to that as Deputy Head of Agriculture at GE Insurance Solutions. Leading the Agriculture team at SCOR, René has been instrumental in developing the Agriculture portfolio and building a highly respected team of experts serving our clients worldwide.

Based in Zurich, Vikas Mahajan will join the Reinsurance Specialty Lines management team, reporting directly to the Head of Specialty Lines, Eric Jenck. 

With over two decades of international experience in the reinsurance industry, Vikas has held several key positions as a treaty and specialty lines underwriter and broker, demonstrating a proven track record in portfolio and team management.

Vikas joined SCOR in Singapore in 2019 as a Senior Underwriter, where he was responsible for developing and managing the P&C Treaty book for Singapore and parts of South Asia. In 2023, he transferred to Cologne as a member of the Nordics team. Prior to his tenure at SCOR, Vikas held significant roles at J B Boda & Co, Swiss Re, and GIC Re.

Vikas holds an MBA in Finance from the Business School of the University of Jammu (India). He is also a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, UK.
