We were saddened to learn of the death of François Négrier, who passed away on Friday, May 1, 2020, at the age of 91. François Négrier was Chief Executive Officer of SCOR from 1974 to 1993. He took over as head of the Group four years after its creation in 1970. Through his in-depth knowledge of reinsurance and reinsurance techniques, he actively contributed to SCOR’s development. François Négrier notably led the acquisitions of La Vittoria Riassicurazioni and Deutsche Kontinentale Rück at the end of the 1980s, as well as the merger with UAP and SCOR’s subsequent listing on the stock market. He later became an Advisor to the Group’s senior management, a position he held from 1994 to 2001.
A leading figure in the profession, he was also Chairman of the La Parisienne Assurances group from 2000 to 2010
We share the grief of his family and loved ones and extend our condolences to them.
Denis Kessler, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of SCOR, comments: “I am deeply saddened by the death of François Négrier. He was a warm, very humanistic man, with a sharp intellect. I salute the memory of a man who, for many years, was the embodiment of the French reinsurance industry.”
