Inspiring Girls at SCOR
Empowering young girls to make choices free from gender stereotypes
Life at SCOR
Studies indicate that gender stereotypes begin to affect young girls as early as age six and these stereotypes can greatly influence their educational and career choices later in life, leading to the underrepresentation of women in many fields.
SCOR is committed to empower young women in making education and career choices free from gender stereotypes. This is why SCOR has partnered with organizations and charities investing in young women and girls such as “Inspiring Girls,” dedicated to supporting aspirations of girls between the ages of 9 and 18, with the aim of introducing them to various career paths in life.

Inspiring Girls in a nutshell
Founded in 2016, Inspiring Girls is an international organization, connecting girls with female role models around the world. The goal is to help young women realize the variety in potential educational and career paths in life. According to Inspiring Girls, more than 90% of girls say that hearing women talk about their different jobs makes them feel like they have more options in the future. This is a clear indicator of how important mentorship and female role models are for young women.

Inspiring Girls partners with corporates and schools to engage in various activities to empower young girls, including school visits, workshops, and online sessions. These activities provide girls with the opportunity to interact with successful women from diverse fields, hear their stories, and ask questions. The organization also hosts events like vision board parties, empowerment circles, and role model presentations.
Taking initiative at SCOR
Inspired by their mission, SCOR first launched its corporate partnership with Inspiring Girls in Singapore in 2023. Since then, 13 female role models of SCOR Singapore have participated in diverse activities organized by Inspiring Girls, including different workshops and sessions as volunteers or trainers. For instance, at so called “Discover our Functions” events, SCOR Singapore welcomed schoolgirls to the office, where they participated in activities like yoga lessons and interactive sessions exploring various functions at SCOR. These events successfully opened the girls’ eyes to different career possibilities with valuable insights and fresh inspiration for their future paths. During SCOR’s 2024 Engagement Month, colleagues from our Singapore office shared their experiences and insights with students at Nanyang Girls’ High School. The day included workshops on personal development and discussions with accomplished women mentors. Similarly, SCOR role models shared their stories with girls at ITE College, encouraging them to believe in their potential to become leaders.

With the initiative being a great success in Singapore, other SCOR offices are in the process of starting local partnerships as well. The kickoff event in the Paris office in October 2024 attracted more than 60 volunteers, excited to share their personal journey and experiences with young women across France. Their participation in the initiative can take multiple forms. Over a span of three years, female SCOR employees will have the chance to share their experiences, professional journeys, passions at schools and other venues hosting girls aged 6 to 16.

Additionally, SCOR employees can contribute to the Inspiring Girls’ Videos Hub by creating a collection of video testimonials, where role models share their career paths to showcase diverse professions. SCOR’s Paris participants also have the chance to participate in speed networking sessions to answer questions about their role and career paths.
As more SCOR offices partner with Inspiring or similar initiatives in their regions, the impact will continue to grow, fostering a global community where girls are encouraged to pursue their dreams without limitations. Together, we can inspire and support young women to achieve their full potential and reach their professional aspirations. We can break down the barriers to educational and professional development and nurture future generations of talent.

For SCOR, this goes beyond the DEI agenda, it is about building the talent pools that we will need to ensure long-term growth and performance of our company, industry and society.
